コードワードの設定は以下のような感じで行なわれます(山田太郎氏とAbbeyのやりとり)。

Taro: Good morning. This is Taro Yamada calling from Japan. I’d like to set up my codeword.
Abbey: Could you tell me your customer reference number?
Taro: My customer reference number is 123456789.
Abbey: Could you tell me your date of birth?
Taro: My date of birth is July 20th 1960.
Abbey: Could you tell me your registered phone number?
Taro: My phone number is 81-3-1234-5678.
Abbey: Could you tell me your activation code?
Taro: My activation code is ALTANATIVE.
Abbey: OK, Mr. Yamada. I verified your identification. Could you give me your codeword? The length of the codeword must be between 8 to 12 digits.
Taro: My codeword is “AIC200411”. “A” for alpha, “I” for India, “C” for Charlie, and “200411” are digits.
Abbey: Your codeword is “AIC200411”. Is that correct?
Taro: That’s correct.
Abbey: OK, I’ve set up your codeword. Is there anything else I can help you?
